Hello People!

Welcome back to our  52 weeks theme-based toddler homeschooling series! This week we are going to talk about the Ocean & Beach theme.

What I was hoping to introduce to my toddler with this theme was the beach, how we can take care of the environment (beach cleaning) and further talk about sea animals as he is more interested in those, anyways, the rain didn't help us at all this week as we had to stay indoors and had to cancel our beach visit.

We had 2 visitors this week, miss 3years old & 18 months old mr. We had some fun, see what we were able to do.

Our Plan:
Numeracy: Counting and sorting shells by colour
Science: Ocean Themed Sensory Bottle
Crafts: Paint Shells, Colour beach picture
Fine Motor: Play dough and straws
Gross Motor: Play Ground, floor colouring with chalk
Cooking: Cookies
Books to read: Rainbow fish, book about ocean
Trip: Landmark Beach
Music:
Bible: Jesus walked on water

What we did:
Coloured Shells:

Materials

  • Shells
  • Paint
  • Paint Brush
We painted our shells and by the time we were done, they didn't have a specific colour

Counting and Miss3 made a rainbow!
Ocean themed sensory bottle:

Materials

  • Empty Bottle
  • Water
  • Blue food colouring
  • Oil
  • Cellotape
Direction
  • Add water in the bottle
  • Add a drop of blue food colouring
  • Add Oil(I just eyeballed it) and seal

Oil and water don't mix and you'd be introducing your toddler to that scientific fact. No matter how they shake, it will still separate.

No mess ocean themed sensory bag < 1 year:
Materials

  • Ziplock bag
  • I cup of water
  • Blue food colouring
  • Ocean based loose parts (e.g shells, fish)
  • Cellotape
  • Water beads (optional)
Direction
  • Add water to the ziplock
  • Add a drop of blue food colouring
  • Add loose parts and water beads
  • Seal to the ground

We played with play dough we got from Miniso a while ago. The last time I used it, it became solid after a day out but I left it out this time after and one week later, it's still soft.

We did a mid week activity that I saw on this website

We talked about Big and Small.
Materials
  • Cardboard
  • Pen
  • Enthusiastic Toddler
Trace out your palms, feet and have fun. Another layer is colouring it, cutting it out and comparing.

Colouring
I just googled "Ocean themed colouring pages", printed it and gave them to colour.

We were supposed to end the week with a visit to the beach but the rain stopped us. I really hope you enjoyed and learnt a thing or 2 from this. You can follow our journey as we go along on Instagram stories @thecuddleblog

What did you do in your homeschool this week?
