I went on the train for the first time in 2021 and documented my journey. I have been on the train multiple times after that, and the process changes, but here is the updated process now, not so much different from 2021 and still everything is different. Most of what I mentioned about kids is the same so I will focus on just the process. Someone literally asked me about this last week, so hopefully it helps someone.
Process:
- Sign up and log in to https://nrc.gsds.ng/ or Download the app
- Put in your details and you will need your NIN, if you are with a child you can just use your own NIN, email and phone number.
- Book your date, choose your seat and make payment.
- Your ticket will be sent to your email
What to note:
- You can only book 48 hours in advance
- They don't collect cash
- Take a valid ID, you will present it before you enter. You can use an ID on your phone
- You can't be late. The train is always on schedule.
- Know the names of the train stations. There are multiple stops in Abeokuta and Ibadan. Knowing the exact name will help you when booking, but they will always announce on board, so you will know when to get off the train.
- The train gets cold; prepare for it.
- Children 0-3 don't pay. There's no way to say the age of the child.
- Children pay the same amount for business class and first class.
First class: N6,000
Business class: N4,500
Standard Adult: N3,000
Standard Children: N2,000
Cost for Ibadan:
